A Student Pass in Singapore can be applied for directly by the educational institution, as well as by a sponsor who is a Singapore citizen or permanent resident (PR).

A Student Pass is not required if the educational program:
- Is completed within the duration of a short-term social visa or within 30 days, whichever is shorter.
- Is a standalone and autonomous module; courses with multiple program modules are excluded from the Student Pass issuance.
- Does not include practical professional training and/or industrial attachment that involves interaction with the public or is conducted in a business premises (e.g., a hair salon or beauty parlor).
The processing of a Student Pass in Singapore takes between 4 to 6 weeks, but it may take longer if additional documents are requested by the educational institution or the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore.
A Student Pass in Singapore does not allow you to work without additional permission.
If your visa application is rejected by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore, you can appeal the decision.

Yes, a Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) can be issued to the mother or grandmother of a child under 21 years old who is studying in Singapore on a Student Pass, as well as to the official spouse and children of students from certain educational institutions.
